DOG ON A RUN
Dog’s on a run
fast and faster.
Dog’s not harassed—
he’s training his master.
Dog sees a squirrel,
then—disaster!
Dog makes a turn,
tripping his master
Gentle dog’s day is not going well.
Helpful dog’s master is madder than h…
So, you say, where’s the metaphor? Â There’s no metaphor in this poem!
But what if the whole story is a metaphor?
My friend, the CEO of a company, is supposed to be the boss, right? Â But I watched one day as her clients ran her ragged…and that’s what this poem is about, maybe not for my readers, but for me.
